Tactical Field Care Level I: Stop The Bleed

Our Tactical Field Care (Stop The Bleed) course focuses on the basic fundamental treatment (tactical field care) of massive hemorrhage or the M in the acronym M.A.R.C.H. 90% of all combat casualties since post-9/11 have been due to Massive Hemorrhaging (MH). MH may occur on any of the upper or lower body extremities or along the upper or lower torso.

This course will teach you, in great detail on how to assess and treat an MH anywhere on the body, except for a few locations where treatment, as a first responder will be difficult with a tourniquet or would packing methods. This is a tactical field care course. While most of the learning will happen in a classroom environment, most of the application will be conducted during live fire lanes, as demonstrated by the instructors.

Stop the bleed methods covered in this course are:

  • First Aid Kits and contents
  • Tourniquet options and application
  • Wound packing and pressure dressing methods
  • Chest seals (respiratory)

We will briefly discuss Airway, Circulation and Head injuries/hypothermia but we will not be teaching or applying these invasive methods during this course.

OVERALL: It will be a challenging and informative day for everyone. You will be forced to come out of your comfort zone but will receive lots of tools for your training tool bag. You will learn the most about yourself, your capabilities and your limitations. Understanding your deficiencies and creating a training plan is the only way to progress. This course will establish your baseline of where you are in your progression of execution and give you a good guideline for improvement to the next level.
